The Language of Beauty
There are words to describe diamond beauty. They define the qualities of light this magnificent gemstone can create.
When the diamond is held still, the light takes two forms:
Brilliance - white light reflected out of the diamond. Fire - light broken up, or refracted, into the colors of the spectrum.
Move the diamond, and you'll see:
Sparkle - the bright-dark, on-off flashes of brilliance and fire that burst across the stone.
Taken together, these qualities of light return form a mosaic - or kaleidescope - of stunning visual effects. The fuller and more distinctive this mosaic, the more compelling the diamond's beauty.
To create maximum brilliance, fire, and sparkle, a diamond must be able to gather light into itself from every direction - and then send it out through its top section, the crown, back to the beholder's eye. This requires cutting with exquisite precision.
